About the role
Financial Automation is a newly formed team within the Revenue Assurance group, sitting at the intersection of engineering, finance, and commercial operations. We build and operate the systems that automate critical financial processes — from tax calculation, reporting, e-invoicing, customer financial flows — directly impacting Bolt's global financial operations and regulatory compliance across markets.
As a Backend Engineer, you'll be a founding member of the team, designing, building and launching backend solutions for a brand-new domain. Our stack is Node.js and TypeScript on backend platforms, but if you don't know Node.js/TypeScript don't worry, you just need to know backend development inside out!
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Designing, developing, and deploying high-performance backend systems with a focus on scalability, security, and low latency.
Refactoring existing monolithic services into highly optimized microservices and APIs.
Participating in code reviews, technical designs, and architecture planning to ensure codebase quality and scalability.
Partnering with Product Managers, Data Analysts, and Finance teams to deliver business-critical features smoothly.
Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers to foster a high-performing engineering culture.
About you:
You have a solid track record of 4+ years of professional experience in designing and scaling complex distributed backend systems.
You are highly proficient in at least one modern backend language (Node.js, TypeScript, Go, Java, or Python).
You have deep knowledge of microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
You possess strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MySQL).
You care about code quality, testing automation, and maintainability.
